5 Luxury Yorkshire Wedding Venues for Romantic Weddings

Planning a luxury wedding in Yorkshire and searching for the perfect venue? Yorkshire is home to some of the most beautiful luxury wedding venues in the UK. From romantic country house estates in the Dales to converted barns, historic priories and boutique hotels, there's a huge range of styles within the county — and the standard is consistently high.

As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I've photographed celebrations across the county and have explored many of the region's most sought-after venues. This guide shares my favourite luxury Yorkshire wedding venues for couples planning a stylish, romantic and unforgettable wedding day.

If you're drawn to the wilder, more open landscapes of the county, take a look at my Yorkshire Dales wedding blog post for ideas on locations, styling and what to expect from a day in that part of the world.

These five keep coming up because they actually deliver: the spaces are beautiful, the staff care, and they all photograph brilliantly whatever the season. If you're looking for luxury wedding venues in Yorkshire and want somewhere that feels special from the moment you arrive, these are worth your attention.

Middleton Lodge | A Romantic North Yorkshire Wedding Venue

Middleton Lodge sits in the North Yorkshire countryside and manages to feel both grand and genuinely relaxed — which is rarer than it sounds. The estate is Georgian, the grounds are beautiful, and the food is the kind that guests still talk about months later.

Couples can marry in the Main House, which has original period features and a classic country house feel, or in The Fig House — a lighter, more contemporary orangery space that looks out over the restored Walled Garden. The Fig House in particular is lovely: full of natural light, quietly romantic without trying too hard.

I love photographing here because the gardens change beautifully through the seasons, and golden hour in the surrounding countryside is genuinely special. It's one of those venues where you could point a camera almost anywhere and get something worth keeping.

Best for: couples who want elegant North Yorkshire surroundings without stuffiness, and care a lot about food.

Thicket Priory | A Historic Wedding Venue Near York

If you're looking for a wedding venue near York that combines history with real comfort, Thicket Priory is worth a serious look. The house is Grade II listed, Victorian, and full of architectural character — high ceilings, original stonework, rooms that feel like they've held a few secrets over the years.

It was a convent for most of its life and that quiet drama is still there. With 35 en-suite bedrooms on site, it works brilliantly as an exclusive-use wedding venue in Yorkshire for couples who want a full weekend celebration. Ceremony options include an indoor chapel, the elegant Morning Room and an outdoor bandstand.

From a photography perspective, the variety is exceptional. Grand interiors, garden spaces, woodland — whatever the weather, there are beautiful spots throughout the day.

Best for: couples who love history and the idea of their whole wedding party staying together under one roof.

Wharfedale Grange | A Luxury Barn Wedding Venue in Yorkshire

Originally a flower farm between Harrogate and Leeds, Wharfedale Grange has become one of the most distinctive luxury barn wedding venues in Yorkshire. The interiors are bold — fairylight walls, sequined chandeliers, a rose-gold mirrorball — and yet it works, partly because outside it's all wildflower meadows and open countryside.

It's exclusive use throughout, there's boutique accommodation on site, and ceremony spaces include a beautiful oak arbour and the North Barn. The contrast between the dramatic interior and the relaxed outdoor setting gives the whole day a really interesting visual range.

I love photographing here because no two times of day look the same. The meadows in afternoon light are soft and romantic; the barn after dark is electric.

Best for: couples who want a stylish, visually striking Yorkshire barn wedding without losing the countryside feel.

Manor House Lindley | An Elegant West Yorkshire Wedding Venue

Manor House Lindley is one of the most distinctive West Yorkshire wedding venues — a Georgian manor house in the village of Lindley, near Huddersfield, that sat derelict for years before being restored into a boutique hotel and wedding venue.

The attention to detail throughout is obvious. The Coach House is the main wedding space — high ceilings, beautiful woodwork, a lot of character. The Lantern Room and Lindley Cellars work well for more intimate gatherings, and the private gardens and courtyard outside are lovely for ceremonies and portraits. The food here is genuinely excellent, which matters more than people often think when choosing a venue.

Photographically, the architecture does a lot of the work for you. The contrast between original stonework and contemporary interiors creates real visual interest, and the gardens offer a quieter space for relaxed portraits.

Best for: couples looking for boutique luxury and a West Yorkshire wedding venue with genuine character.

The Oakwood at Ryther | Countryside Luxury Near York

The Oakwood at Ryther is tucked away in the Vale of York, about 10 miles south of the city — and it feels very rural in the best possible way. A working farm transformed into a luxury wedding venue, it's built around two beautifully restored barns: the Ceremony Hall and the Old Grain Store.

The details are thoughtful: reclaimed wood, exposed brick, handcrafted oak arches. It feels warm and considered rather than over-designed. Outside there are wildflower meadows, landscaped gardens and open countryside, and the whole place is exclusive use with boutique accommodation on site — making it one of the most complete exclusive-use wedding venues in Yorkshire for couples who want everything in one place.

Best for: couples who want a relaxed countryside wedding near York, with enough luxury to feel special.
